I usually don't do much with new year resolutions each year. But this year has been a little different. I started thinking about things that I wanted to be doing different quite a while before the year ended. I want to know that I've done everything I can so that my children make good choices. My kids are wonderful, don't get me wrong, but times are getting tougher. I also want to become healthier. I worked on that quite a bit last year but now it's time to step it up a little and work on my body more. I'm starting out very slowly so in hopes that I don't get too discouraged. Hopefully the saying "slow and steady wins the race" works for me.
Carol came over to put some needles in Kirk and while she was waiting to take them out, gave curious Tyler a little lesson on how it works. he said that she could put one in him if he could put one in her first. Carol taught him how to do it and he did it perfectly. Then it was his turn and he was a pro. He has gone with Kirk two times now for help with stress & anxiety.
My Grandma Evers is such a talented lady and has made me several Christmas decorations that I will always cherish. This advent calendar is probably my favorite. You turn each square around every day until Christmas to reveal a hand made picture. Each of the kids have one with their name on it.
I love our Christmas tree. We have had the same decorations since we first were married and just add to it every year. We have a Snowman theme which works great with all of the kids homemade ornaments. We get the kids a new ornament every year so that by the time they have their own Christmas tree the will have a good start with ornaments.
The cranberries and popcorn garland remind me of growing up and stringing the rea lthing. Of course no snoman is complete without the stovepipe hat. We have angel wings and angels on the tree to remember Nichole & Michele.
Of course Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas without our Savior Jesus Christ. These are two of my favorite pieces to put out each year
We made a quick trip to Denver to go support My Aunt Terri at Uncle Darrel's funeral. We had a great time seeing family. I was able to see my Cousin Sara which was the first time in about 12 years. This was the first time that My Grandma and Grandpa were able to meet Brett & Andrea's little boy Jaron.
My Grandma found out recently that she has cancer, so we were grateful to be able to see her and are praying that her treatments go good. She is such a strong person and has a great attitude about everything. They have moved into a smaller place so we were able to their new home. It will be good to make some new memories there.
My parents received permission from their mission president to go to the funeral so it was good to be able to see them too. Only just over a month before they will be coming home from their mission.
The drive there and back was great we had such a good time as brothers and sisters visiting and laughing and getting lost, we always managed to find our way around and make it to where we needed to be though. We had to cut the trip a day short due to snow coming in. Wished we could have stayed a day longer, but it was good to make it home safe.

Decorating the tree is always exciting. The kids sort all of their ornaments that they have made or collected throughout the years. We always get a new ornament every year so hopefully by the time the kids get married and have their own Christmas tree, they will have a good collection. I always enjoy opening all of the boxes and remembering the memories of each decoration. I have several decorations that my Grandma Evers has made for us and they are such beautiful treasures that I will always love.
We also put our lights up on the outside. Tyler climbed up on the roof with his cousins to get the lights up. Tyler broke the cardinal rule of putting up lights and didn't plug them in first to see if they worked or not. So after a couple hours of putting them up and turning them on......only one strand worked. Oh well, they might just end up staying like that this year.
We had a great Thanksgiving Day this year. It was just Kirk's parents, Chad, Dana & Keller, Doug and us. So it was pretty calm. We had a wonderful dinner with all the trimmings. I made pumpkin, pecan and a cream pie. Which was the first time ever making pumpkin and pecan on my own without help from my Mom. They turned out quite good if I say so myself. And then I made a scrumptious Sweet Potato Casserole which is my Grandma Evers recipe. After dinner we just came home, relaxed and watched a movie. Then we went back to Kirk's parents for leftovers and pies.
Kirk has been going to an acupuncturist here in Cedar for the past month to see if he can get any relief from his headaches. She has been great! He has seen quite a difference in how he has been feeling. She also has put some needles in me the times that I can go with Kirk and it's not bad at all! I was surprised had how little you feel anything. We are praying that this will help Kirk have some relief. By the time she gets the needles in him, he is usually snoring away.

Mix the above ingredients and let rise for 10 minutes. Roll out to 1/2 inch thick and cut into strips with a pizza cutter. Melt 1 stick of butter and dip the strips of dough, place on a cookie sheet and sprinkle with parmesan cheese or Cinnamon & Sugar. Let rise for 10 minutes and then bake @ 350 for 20 minutes.

Tyler was very innovative with his costume this year. He came up with it all by his self and the only thing we had to purchase was a $1.99 bottle of red hair spray. He had such good luck he went to the SUU Trunk or Treat and was selected as the scariest costume so he got to go out onto the football field during the halftime show and show off his costume. Then he won a cake during the cake walk at our ward Halloween party.
We have mice in our house. Enough that they can get really creepy, I used to give them names so that they didn't seem so bad, but lately I've been getting really tired of them. So off to the store to get some mouse traps. I got the basic spring loaded traps and was told that peanut butter was the best bait to use, so I loaded 8 traps with peanut butter. After strategically placing all of the traps, I go to check to see if we've caught any and all I find is traps with no peanutbutter left. Stupid, or smart, mice. So off to the store to get something different. Tyler and I find these traps.
We caught 3 the first day. The only problem is that it doesn't kill them so we put them in a bread bag and then WHACK them on the sidewalk to kill them. I know that might seem horrible to some of you but I think that the mice are dirty, creepy things. Last night there was one in my bedside garbage can keeping me awake, I figure if they can get in the garbage can, they can crawl on my bed while I'm sleeping. It's so embarrassing when we have people over and I can hear them squeaking, I always hope that they either don't hear them or else think that we still have our Guinea Pig. So here I am, on a quest to kill all the mice around.

We had a great time at our Mummy & Daughter night. We saw who could wrap the best mummy in two minutes with a roll of TP. And then we un-wrapped the mummy wrap and found fun and creepy prizes. Of course there was plenty of yummy treats to eat, mummies in a blanket, mini mummy pizza's and mummy cookies.
I work with some great women at Robert's. Genevieve and Angie, are two that I work very closely with, and we decided a couple weeks ago that we needed to start having Ladies Night Out together. So our first time together we all brought snacks and just visited. This last time was Genevieve's birthday so we met at my house and had grilled chicken salad for dinner and then took her to DQ for a treat. Angie made this awesome corsage for Genevieve to wear which had a little tag that said "it's my birthday, wanna spank me?" and then a little tiara for her to wear. I was so funny, there was this old man there at DQ that kept volunteering to SPANK her. We had a great time full of laughs. It's so wonderful to have great friends that you can have fun with and talk about anything.
