Evers Family Photos 2006

It's amazing how quickly all of our little ones change.

A Christmas Carol

In looking back at my picture files, I had misssed some great ones.

For Derick's last year of Play makers they performed "A Christmas Carol" Derick played multiple parts, Mr. Fizziwig, a pirate, a man on the street and dead scrooge. Playmakers has been such a great experience for Derick and he has had a blast and made some great friends through it.

Weekend with the Fam

When my parents left on their mission we promised them that we would do things together while they are gone. So we planned a get together for this last weekend. The kids and I went up on Friday night and stayed until Sunday. On Saturday, Lori scheduled for us girls to go get a pedicure. This was the first time for me and I enjoyed every minute of it. Kaitlin got her toe nails and fingernails done, but before we did anything she had to go into the bathroom and wash her feet because she was embarrassed that her feet would stink. Afterwards we played Apples to Apples and had a fabulous spaghetti dinner and I ate way to much baguette bread, but it was just to yummy to pass up. We had a great time reminiscing about growing up. The next day we went to church ate dinner and reluctantly came home.

Lori and the boys are talking about coming down here for spring break and then our next big get together will be sometime in June.

Happy St Patties Day!

This picture was taken on St Patrick's day in 2006. I always have the best intentions to be creative on holidays. I have a gal that I work with that loves St Patricks day and goes all out with dinner, decorating her car, dressing up, watching an Irish movie, the works. So yesterday I was telling her that I was going to surprise my kids and at least have green food for dinner. Here is what I did, I made tacos and said "look kids, our lettuce is green just for St. Patricks day!" I know, LAME. Maybe next year.

Souper Elders Quorum Activity

Kirk is now the new Elders Quorum President in our church and to start things off with a bang he planned a Family Elders Quorum party. It was a blast! It was a potluck soup dinner with rolls and then Kirk had some fun activities planned. We did a contest to see who could wrap the best TP mummy in a certain amount of time, and then all of the men and boys, tried to see who could hold a baby, talk on the phone and hang up the laundry the best in one minute. The women had a great time watching this. It was a great turnout which is always what you would like. We have so many young and new couples in the ward that it's always nice to get to know them and for them to meet others in the ward.

Happy Birthday Tyler!

Tyler turned 11 this year and had a very nice birthday. He go plenty of presents including a "Ugly Stick" fishing pole and tackle box so that when the weather warms up a bit we can go fishing. We are all looking forward to next year when Tyler will receive the Preisthood.

Eleven things about Tyler:
  1. If you need a hug, Tyler is who to go to.
  2. Tyler likes to look nice and comb his hair (most of the time)
  3. He likes to eat chicken legs
  4. He likes animals
  5. He is a good friend
  6. He is respectful of his teachers
  7. He is not to old for kisses
  8. He likes to play basketball
  9. He has eaten baby octopus' and liked it
  10. Tyler is a good singer
  11. Tyler tells me he loves me

Ice Fishing...NOT!

t
For Tyler's birthday this year he decided that he wanted to go icefishing. So we packed everything up and headed to the lake with our neighbors the Makun's. Once we drove up to the water we then realized that the ice had pretty much melted. So we just fished instead. Luckily we packed normal fishing poles to use or else we would have looked quite funny fishing with the little ice fishing poles. We didn't have any luck with catching but we had fun trying and enjoyed Taco soup and hot dogs.

Quote of the day

This is a quote that my parents sent from their mission that they found while working with their documents.

"A life that is not documented, is a life that within a generation or two will largely be lost to memory."

I really like it and it makes me remember that the time I spend doing my blog is documenting our history.

Building a fort for Grandma 2006

For Mothers day we usually see what Grandma would like done around the house. She buys everything and then we do the labor, a good deal for everyone. Kirk designed the play fort and then we set to work building. It's always a good experience for us and the kids to help build something.

We called this house home for a while while were looking for a house to buy. I quite enjoyed living here despite the house was tilting, you could put a can on the floor in the kitchen and it would roll fast to the other side. The kids all had their own room which was quite nice for them except Tyler would have rather slept somewhere else because he could see the kitchen downstairs through his bedroom floor. He was always afraid his bed would fall through the floor. I learned how to hang my laundry out to dry outside. It was a fun house during the spring and summer because it had a great yard.

Home-made sled hill 2006

We made this sled hill in front of our old house after we had a big snow storm in March. The kids had a blast with it and it lasted for quite a while because it was on the North side of the house. If you look close you will see that I joined in the on fun, I am the big blur at the bottom of the page.

Tyler's Baptism 2006

It's fun to look back and remember these great times. Tyler will be celebrating his 11th birthday on the 24th of this month and next year he will be getting the Priesthood. I can'[t believe how fast time flies.

x-games 2006

Those of you who know Tyler, know that he is quite adventurous. For his eighth birthday we had and X-game party. We gave Tyler a skateboarding ramp for his birthday this year and set it up at the church the kids all brought their scooters and skateboards. We had different courses and games for them to play. Afterwords we ate pizza and cake. It was a blast.

one, two, three, jump

Having fun with cousins!

Easter Sunday best

Happy Easter 2003

Easter is always such a fun time. We color our eggs and then at night the Easter bunny comes and hides our decorated eggs so that we can find them.

Playing some more catch-up

When we lived up North, one of things the boys enjoyed was to go to Lowe's and build something. Once a month Kirk would sign the boys up and then they would go and get to build things. It was free and the first time they went they would get an apron and safety glass. At each work shop after they passed off their project they would get a certificate and a patch to sew onto their apron. They always had a great time.

The kids and I made lip sucker holders for their Valentines this year. So pucker up and kiss me now!

Chick Magnet

The kids had their Valentines party in school today. Tyler comes home with quite the loot. He seems to have a few girls that have decided that he is their valentine. He received a special gift from each of them.

The Saga continues

Well Derick has decided that Tuesday is the day to shave. So every Tuesday whether he needs it or not, Derick shaves.

Remembering GG pa Marchant

February 11 is always a day that I think of Grandpa Marchant. His Birthday was the first time that we met. Kirk and I were dating and we went to Grandma and Grandpa Marchant's house to celebrate. He always treated me special because we shared the same birthday.

I always liked it when Grandpa Marchant walked into the room because you could smell his cologne.

A funny story I remember about Grandpa was when he took me up to Salt Lake to meet Kirk one time and to take Kimmy home. He stayed in the passing lane the whole way up there and I remember people giving us dirty looks because he never moved over. Grandpa just said "I don't see why everyone doesn't drive on this side of the road, it's so much smoother"

I love and miss Grandpa Marchant. Happy Birthday to us.

Can I say that word?

We are reading the D&C for scripture study this year and tonight it's Kaitlin's turn to read her set of scriptures. She gets to a part in the scripture and stops on the word, hell, and asks us if it's o.k for her to say hell or if she should say heck? We tell her that if it's in the scriptures it is o.k. to say.

We have enjoyed studying the Doctrine & Covenants this year as a family. I have such a testimony of the prophet Joseph Smith and I'm so grateful for him and for the strength he had during the restoration of the gospel. It has also been great studying about him in Relief Society.

Aunt Terri's Picture Challenge

This is the 6th picture in the 6th folder of my computer. This is a picture that we took in May 2007. Such a cute picture of all of the Grandkids at the time (minus Jaron now). It was taken at a business park in Springville, Utah.

Kaitlin's 9

This year for Kaitlin's Birthday I decided to take her out of school and we went to St George for the day. She wanted to go to the mall and go shopping. She said that the first thing that she wanted to do when she got there was to ride the escalator. Too bad St George isn't big enough for and escalator. First thing we did when we got there was to have our pictures taken in one of those photo booths. Then we went to Dillards to look around. She put some lip gloss on at the makeup counter and some perfume. We looked at some clothes and she had to buy a Hannah Montana makeup set. She tried on some fancy Jewelry and decided that people who wear the underwear that goes up you bum (thongs) are just disgusting. We did a little more walking around the mall before she decided that she had had her fill of the whole mall thing.

We then decided that we needed to eat so we went to the Olive Garden for lunch. It was delicious and we both filled up on the yummy breadsticks.

Our final destination was to Target, thank goodness for Target, because that is where we did pretty much all of our shopping. Kaitlin picked out several different outfits. She modeled all the cute little hats for a photo shoot.

After we got home from shopping we got ready for her party. We decorated the basement with balloons a homemade disco ball, black lights and Tyler's lava lamp. She had four of the best come to "party" with her. They all had fun dancing, singing kareoke, telling jokes and eating munchies.

We are so glad to have Kaitlin in our family, she is such a delightful little girl. Happy Birthday Kaitlin!

Feeding the Horses

One of the kids favorite things to do while in Leamington is to feed the horses behind Grandma and Grandpa's house. The kids have named each of the horses I can't remember all of the names but I know that two of them are Harry and Ron from "Harry Potter".

A day in the life of being in Leamington

Thing to do while visiting Grandma and Grandpa Evers in Leamington.
  • Got to the mines
  • Touch a Mormon Cricket
  • Throw rocks in the river
  • Feed the horses
  • Climb on the roof
  • See a rainbow
  • Drive Grandpa's Truck
  • Go up the mountain
  • Sew something
  • .....and see the old trains

Playing Catch-up

I haven't taken any new pictures so I thought that I would try playing a little catch-up with my old pictures that I haven't scrapbooked.

These are pictures of a time when we were visiting Leamington and Sister Ballard (she is a southern belle) called and wanted to know if we wanted to go throw eggs at the bridge. We thought that it was kind of naughty, and she said not to worry that the birds would come and clean everything up, so we said what the heck, let's go have some fun. So we got a bunch of eggs and met her at the bridge. We started with egg and spoon races, toss the egg, and then we just had a blast splattering them on the wall of the bridge. What a fun memory that we will never forget.

Off to the MTC

This last Sunday was my parents mission farewell. What a beautiful meeting it was. My mom talked about the importance of keeping a history and doing genealogy and a little bit about what they would be doing on their mission. Derick and Shaylin along with my parents neighbor Nathan did a piano/violin duet to "Oh My Father" it was absolutely beautiful. I wish I could have brought a recorder into church to record it. Hopefully they will play it again soon so that I can record it then so that you can all hear it. My dad then concluded by talking about faith and the power of the priesthood.

They went into the MTC on Monday and are having a great time learing everything they need to know before they go out into the Mission Field. I am so glad that I still am able to hear from them by phone and not just two times a year like the young missionaries get to.

Color Country Cloggers

Kaitlin started clogging this fall, and has had a great time. She is in a group with about 12 including one boy. She caught on really quick. One day while I was in my craft room and she was in the bathroom taking a shower, I could hear her stomping, I asked her what she was doing and she said she was doing her clogging performance. She had a couple performances over the Christmas Holiday. One of these days I'll get a better camera so that I can capture her dancing better.

A visit from the Prophet Joseph Smith

This year in Sunday School we are studying the Doctrine & Covenants. A friend of mine refers to them as "Love Letters from Christ" because they are direct revelations from Jesus to Joseph Smith. So today we talked about the first vision and my Mother in law, Jacque was giving the lesson. She asked Derick to roll play as if he were Joseph. Joseph was 14 when he went into the Sacred Grove to pray and ask Heavenly Father which church he should join.

Jacque asked Derick, or Joseph Smith, questions leading up to the first vision.
  • Who are you?
  • Tell us about the time you had that severe infection in your leg.
  • Tell us what happened when Heavenly Father and Jesus appeared to you in the Sacred Grove.
Derick then answered each question as though he were Joseph Smith. What a neat spirit he brought into the class. I see alot of similarities between Derick and Joseph Smith.

I am so greatful for Joseph Smith and for having the faith to ask the question, "Which church should I join?" I know that he was instrumental in restoring the true chruch to the earth. I am so thankful for his perserverance with all of the persecution that he went through so that we could have the gospel. I know that I am blessed beyond words because my Mom was a member of the church but more importantly that my Dad joined the church after they were married. We were all raised by such wonderful parents who instilled in us to love being a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints.

One More Week

One more week until my Mom & Dad have their mission farewell. They were set apart today as Missionaries for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints. I am so proud of them for their decision to serve a mission, what a wonderful example they are to us kids but also to their grandkids.
