16 All Ready!!!!

Derick is 16 now. I can't believe that I have someone that is old enough to date and drive. I'm not sure both of those milestones should occur on the same birthday. I couldn't ask for a better 16 year old than Derick. He is such a patient, kind, smart and fun boy. I am so proud of the choices he makes daily.

Sabbath Day

What a wonderful Sacrament Meeting we had today!! It was a Music/Testimony meeting. Who ever wanted could go up and tell their favorite hymn or primary song and why it meant something to them and then everyone sang the first verse or the verse that they picked. Man it was hard holding back the tears. It's amazing how much music can touch your heart and bring in the spirit. Kaitlin went up and said that one of her favorite primary song was "Little purple Pansies" because it was one of her GG Marchant's favorite songs and because after she died the grandkids planted purple pansies at her graveside. Some of my Favorites:
  • Scripture Power
  • We are as the armies of Heleman (my moms choice because they would sing that at all of their zone conferences on the mission)
  • Silent Night
  • Because I have been given much.
I'm so glad that I was able to attend this Sacrament Meeting not only to partake of the sacrament, but to feel the spirit brought through music.

Busy Week

In between getting Derick to and from play practice everyday, I have a lot going on. Lori and I have our first Scraps-N-Pieces home show tomorrow in Elk Ridge. We are so excited about it but also anxious to see how it goes. I hope very well! Then on Saturday we are doing a craft fair in Delta. So we are busy getting labels and pricing and everything else ready for both shows. This is a big step for both of us but we are hoping for the best.

Sea World

While we were in California, we of course had to go to Sea World. We saw the penguins, went to the Dolphin show and by far my favorite was the Shamu Show. It is just amazing that those huge animals can get their bodies out of the water. The kids, Grandma and Grandpa went early to save seats and much to not my surprise, they were right in the middle of the "Splash Zone". I was the only one brave enough to sit there with the kids. I did however take my shoes off and sit on them because I knew that I did not want wet shoes. We got lucky, or should I say, "I, got lucky", because the people in front of us came prepared with a plastic thing and held it up right at the right time.

Happy Birthday Kaitlin 2007

This was such a fun birthday party. My Mom and I made the aprons and embroidered each of the girls names on them. I made the chef hats and let each of the girls decorate them as they got to the party. The girls colored a shrink plastic frame that we put a picture of the group in for each of them. They had a blast decorating their own birthday cake. So much fun!

VICTORY!

Tyler had the most awesome game the other night! His team played GOLD which has been the undefeated team. The first time Tyler's team played them they were beat by two touchdowns. Well this game they beat the Gold team 32 to 14. What a fun game! Tyler did a great job protecting the quarterback. Tyler always makes sure he knows where we are in the bleachers. I love it when he gives us a thumbs up during the game.

Would you be willing to host a party?

Lori and I are going to start hosting digi-scrap classes and retreats. We have a little more to get pulled together for that part, but we are ready to do our home party presentations. So, we are looking for friends and family to host them for us. We can do them during the day on any week day or on Friday Nights or Saturday morning or afternoon. Let us know if you are interested in hosting one for us.

This is the run down. We have invitations for you to send to all of your friends and would have it in your home. Think Pampered Chef party, only digiscrapping. You would hand out the invitations, host the party at your home, make treats or whatever you want to do that way. We come in and show our slideshow and talk about digital scrapping and the advantages. We have two different areas. We give a run down on the advantages and get into a bit of how to do it yourself. We will have disks available of the kits we have designed and lots of fun home decorating projects done with layouts to show you as well as invitations, cards, books, etc. Or, we also have the option of our Scrap 4 Hire side which is for people that don't want to be bothered with learning how to do it and don't have the time and want us to do your scrapbooking for you. As a hostess, you can earn free kits if you are a do it yourselfer or can earn us doing pages for you based on your total sale volume for the party. It is low key and we are just starting, so, we'd love some people to practice on and I think you will love what you see. Let me or Lori know. We are doing a genealogy seminar at the end of the month that we are stoked about. GREAT CHRISTMAS PRESENT IDEAS INCLUDED

We'll also let you know when our retreat option is ready to go, probably after the first of the year. We have lots of fun activities planned for those.

A little bit of Heaven

I'm just going to back up a bit and start from the beginning our our trip.

Other then Derick, we didn't tell Tyler or Kaitlin what we were going to be doing. We just told them that we would stay the night in Vegas and then maybe go to the beach the next day. S0 we picked the kids up from school on Wednesday and headed to Las Vegas. Grandma and Grandpa took us out to the Luxor for dinner. YUMMY! We got up the next morning and headed to San Diego. We had made plans with Lori's, SIL, who lives in San Diego, to watch the kids while we went and did a session at the San Diego temple. What a beautiful temple.

That evening we told the kids that we had found a neat train ride to ride on and that we would have to get up early the next morning to catch it. (We didn't lie, Disnyland does have a couple, "Train Rides")

Rest of Disneyland

Tyler thought that the Buzz Lightyear ride was great! That was I think the only one he rode by himself. It was like you were inside a huge video game. Each spaceship had a gun and you would try to see how may X's you could shoot while going through the ride.Kaitlin and I went over through Pixie Hallow while the boys went on the Monorail. We walked in and we were the size of fairies. Everything what giant to us, flowers, toadstools, grass, everything! Here is our final picture of the day. We were exhausted! The kids all got hats with their spending money. Next time we will make sure that we can spend more that one day there. But we had a great time!!!

Disneyland or Bust!

The end of last year I found out that Disneyland was doing a project called "Give a Day, Get a Day". You had to sign up early and then they would give you a service project to work on as a family and then you got tickets for one day to Disneyland. I knew that this was probably the only way that we would get there. So in January, we found out that our service project was from "Project Linus". We each had to make a blanket and then send in with a picture of us doing the project. That was it! We saved up money so that we would be able to afford the trip. And what even made it more special was that Grandma and Grandpa Evers got to come with us too.

I'm not much of a thrill seeker so I was nervous that I would chicken out on the rides and not have any fun with the kids. But I did good!!! I didn't chicken out on any of them. Indiana Jones, I think was my favorite. Kaitlin got in line with us, but the closer we got the less she wanted to go. She had heard all sorts of different stories from kids and had convinced herself that she would die. We had to talk her into staying in line and told her that she would hate herself if she didn't go on the ride. She screamed the whole ride, but didn't die. She said that she wasn't going to ride it again. We got fast passes for everyone else but her. By the time we went to ride it again she had decided that she really wanted to go again so Kirk gave her his pass. It ended up being her favorite ride also.

"It a Small World" is one of the lamest rides but also one of the longest so it's great to rest your feet. Plus cold air blows on you around each corner.
The kids had to appease their mom by going on the "Kiddie" rides. I was so excited to ride on these because they were what I remembered most when I went to Disneyland for the first time. They still were alot of fun. Derick always ended up alone on the rides because Tyler and Kaitlin wanted to ride with Mom or Dad on the rides.
Fun, Fun, Fun!!!!

Tyler's Football Game #1

This is Tyler's first time playing on a football team other than flag foot ball one year. He is having a blast. He comes home excited from his practices and is very proud of his "war wounds". He is playing Center for his team and thinks it's pretty neat that he gets to touch the ball on every play. He had me put MARCHANT on the front of his helmet because he thinks it's cool to be called by his last name. On the back of his helmet he put FINISH STRONG from a book that Kirk got him.

What's up?

It has been so busy around here lately. Now that I'm the mom taking my kids to practices and going in to Delta or up North for groceries and misc. errands, I sure do appreciate all that my parents did for me. But I have loved every minute of it. I'm so glad that my kids are enjoying it here in Leamington and going to school in Delta.

This past weekend I went up North to my sisters for a Scrapping Weekend. It was so much fun. I got to digital scrapbook all day long and not feel in the least bit guilty. I think that I got 15 layouts completed. Lori and I brought our own chairs from her house to sit on so that we could be comfortable sitting there for hours. It was also great to spend time with Lori face to face. We communicate plenty online but don't get to spend much time together. I can't even scrap a page from our weekend because I didn't take one picture. I'll have to get some from Lori.

Kirk took the Kids to the Utah State Fair on Saturday and had a great time. I really appreciate Kirk for letting my go to the Scrapping weekend and taking the kids to the fair.

This week has started of super busy. Kirk and I went up North on Monday to Tuchanos (sp) for dinner. If you haven't been there it's a Brazilian restaurant and they come to your tables with meat, veggies, and pineapple on spits and cut off pieces for you. Lots of fun and plenty of food. We were also able to get some shopping done for our upcoming trip.

Yesterday was Tyler's first football game. He did AWESOME, especially for it being his first real football game EVER. There was one play that he did where they did the Quarter Back sneak. It turned out amazingly good. I still need to learn a little more about football though. Derick and my brother Greg kept making fun of me because I kept saying/yelling the wrong terms at the wrong time. Oh well, I need to learn some time. They ended up not winning the game but were down by only one TD. Tyler kept looking up at us and giving us the thumbs up throughout the game. He had a blast.

Now on to Derick. Derick auditioned last week for the play "Beauty and the Beast" He did awesome. I was so proud of him. I know that he was terrified at the idea of even doing it but I encouraged him because I knew that this would be a good way for him to get to know more people there at school. He had to have a song and a short monologue. He sang "Go the Distance" from Hercules and then his monologue was from the movie Rocky Balboa where Rocky is talking to his son in the alley. After he sang, he had girls cheering for him. and the next few days at school had girls telling him that they couldn't believe that he could sing so good. Anyways, he got his part yesterday. He is Maurice, Belle's father. That was one of the top three choices he had wanted to get so he is quite excited. The Drama teacher told him that she picked him for that part because he had such a strong voice and Maurice and several singing parts.Kaitlin is taking piano lessons and is doing a great job. We decided to wait as far as clogging goes until we know a little more what we are doing with ourselves. She has adjusted to the move so great and has made lots of friends.

My apologies

Sorry to all of you that have had to endure my many posts, I was at a Scrapbooking retreat all weekend. But mainly I apologies for my bad sentence structure and writing skills. I love doing the digital scrapbooking and would love to just leave it at that but I am trying to work on my journaling skills.
